Hi my name is Faye. I am a key worker. I work as a Shop Assistant in a supermarket in central London.
I find it quite hard being a key worker because at the beginning we had to limit customers on products that we were short on, but it is better now. We only have limits still on yeast and flour because there is still a national shortage on these items. It is very busy at work because other shops are not open.
When the non-essential shops open on 15th June it will hopefully be less busy in supermarkets because people will have other shops to go to. So then everyone will have a bit more space to spread out in the stores.
In my spare time, I have been doing the Gareth Malone home Chorus online on YouTube for half an hour late in the afternoon. Gareth Malone teaches us over video on YouTube and then the members practice by themselves in between the rehearsals. We send videos of us singing the songs that we have been learning so Decca Records can have the music that we are making. At the end Decca Records are going to make a CD out of them. We have been learning to sing ‘You are my Sunshine’ and ‘I’m still standing.’ We did a VE day special choir practice where we practiced ‘White Cliffs of Dover.’ I enjoy everything that Gareth Malone does and it has also given me a bit of a routine to my day and I am learning something new.
With the Gareth Malone Choir, we are hopefully working towards a concert at the Royal Albert Hall. Also a TV series about what the home choir has been doing. Hopefully, in the future, when it is safe, we will be able to meet as a group for rehearsals, as well as keep doing it from home. I am very proud of being a part of this choir.
In my spare time, I have been making lists of things that I need to sort out for my 30th birthday party. Well, once I can do this, according to the government guidelines. So I am constantly making a list of things that I want to do after this virus is all over and everything is back to normal and back open normally again.
